Video maker, writer, curator. Trent- and York-educated, Toronto-based Kingstone was the prolific producer of more than a dozen video shorts and installations in the early 2000s–about growing up/out queer, family, art, the media, relationships and of course sex. My favorite Driving (2003, 14) is about all of those things: fragments of the artist filming his (fictional?) boyfriend breaking up with him as he’s driving aimlessly through and around Toronto on the sixteen-lane 401, captured on a traffic surveillance camera loop that seems as circular as the relationship process itself.
